Re-Opening July 9th

Woman’s Exchange Gift Shop Re-opens,
Peña-Peck House Tours Resume July 9

The Woman’s Exchange of St. Augustine, 143 St. George St., is pleased to announce that it is “back in business” on a limited basis beginning Thursday, July 9.

Its gift shop and tours of the historic house museum will be open from noon to 5 p.m. Thursdays-Saturdays. It closed March 16 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

For the safety of its employees, volunteers and members, masks will be required to enter the house for shopping or to tour the museum. Traffic flow signage will communicate that social distancing is required.

Significant on-hand inventory of merchandise ordered for the spring luncheon series, cancelled due to the pandemic, will be displayed in the Dining Room, Visitor Orientation Center and Old Kitchen.

Tours will be conducted on the ground floor and the rooms will be shown around displayed inventory, as is done during the luncheon season.

Hand sanitizer, cleaning wipes and masks will be provided, and the city is installing a “sneeze guard” at the shop’s check-out counter.

Patronage of the not-for-profit Woman’s Exchange, founded in 1894, ensures that its scholarship program will continue to help women over 30 attending St. Johns River State College or, First Coast Technical College. The scholarship program, which began in 2001, fulfills the Woman’s Exchange mission of “Women Helping Women.”

The Exchange has operated the Peña-Peck House for the City of St. Augustine since 1932. It is a member of the Federation of Woman’s Exchanges.
